What can you do to secure your next job? It’s a stressful time of year when applying for jobs and does not help your well-being and self-esteem to not even get to the interview stage. I know because I’ve been there! I have walked straight into my second teaching job after 1 successful application and interview, other times it’s taken 7 tries!
One thing I have learnt is that sometimes there does not seem to be any logic or reasoning behind the times it has taken longer. Each school has its own set of variables. It did take a significant amount of rumination to get to this conclusion however!
Rejection in whatever context is always hard. Sometimes feedback from schools is helpful and sometimes it isn’t. What helps is resilience and a positive attitude so that you keep on trying.
