During these Autumn times, there is no surprise when we become prone to sniffles, shivers and feeling a little under the weather this time of the year. We reminisce on the times of joy and excitement when the sun was beaming and we all were making the most of the moments outdoors. Naturally, we have to adjust to any climate change and as the seasons change we have to look after and nurture our mental state and wellbeing.
As we do venture into damper and darker months, it is important to be very mindful and aware of children’s wellbeing. As autumn settles with winter looming, children’s daylight exposure will decrease resulting in a low mood and a slumped feeling.

It is really easy to become more attached to the sofa in the colder months (speaking from experience!) but I would encourage children and adults alike to ditch the screens, buy some waterproofs and head outside in nature whatever the weather. Vitamin D is so important in the winter, especially for mental health. Getting outside also means making the most of the sunlight available. Even if you have a really cold and wet day, there are plenty of activities to help your wellbeing.
