Summer struggles: a male perspective on mental health by @teacher_mr_r

As we start the new term, it’s important to reflect on the year so far although this can be a challenge when you’re buried in school work! @teacher_mr_r provides a candid account of his experiences and encouragement for all (but especially men) to seek help. The following are extracts from his blog post:

You never really know what someone is going through in life, especially on social media where people present an image of themselves that isn’t always the whole picture. A kind word can make a huge difference. Reminding someone that you care and that they matter to you can help enormously.

Often men don’t know how to articulate what they are feeling; our society doesn’t encourage us to talk about feelings so we don’t develop the vocabulary or understanding needed to be able to do so.
